Having an Indian meal may be Britain’s favourite culinary pastime, but researchers say curries bought over the counter are more fattening than either Chinese or pizza takeaways.

I am sure not the home-made curries...u know the ones that do not have excess of butter/ghee or cream. The Bengali”patla-macher jhol” I am sure is not fattening!

Curries or pizzas alone will never make you fat... you eating tonnes of them and then sitting on your backside all the time will make you fat!!!! blame your own inactivity for weight gain, not the food!!!!

And why is this news. We Indians knew this all along, especially who are lucky (or unlucky, as fate would have it) to be eating curries cooked in Pure Ghee. Take a look at the fat traders, will you.
If you are going to eat 'Chicken Do Pyaza', you will know how much fattening the Indian curry can be. Eat 'Chicken Do Pyaza' five times a week for month and welcome a Heart attack.
My point: Eat lean and live a long and healthy life.

It is a welcome piece of news. By that I mean at least we now have something we can't blame it on an Italian, on an Italian woman (Sonia Gandhi) for our ills. The problem, to paraphrase Shakespeare, is in ourselves. we eat too much of fatty food and all that Trans Fat will kill us someday, if not today.
Curry is also big in the united Kingdom and maybe that is one reason many britons are becoming fat, more than before.

It also depends on your metabolism.. some people just dont have to worry about eating everything within their sight because their metabolism rates are so high.. Where as, some people grow fat even after sustaining themselves on lettuce and celery stalks.
